  • Nano-lanthanum oxide (La₂O₃), as an important rare earth nanomaterial, demonstrates excellent application value in environmental protection, material modification, catalysis, and other fields due to its superior chemical activity and stability. This white powdery nanomaterial typically has a particle size of 20-100 nanometers, featuring a large specific surface area and abundant surface active sites.

  • In environmental protection, nano-lanthanum oxide serves as a high-efficiency wastewater treatment agent, particularly excelling in treating phosphorus-containing wastewater. It can specifically react with phosphate ions in water to form stable lanthanum phosphate precipitates, achieving a phosphorus removal rate of over 99%. In sewage treatment plants, processes incorporating nano-lanthanum oxide can control effluent phosphorus concentration below 0.05mg/L, far lower than national discharge standards. Additionally, it effectively adsorbs and removes fluoride, arsenic, and other pollutants in water, providing an efficient solution to water pollution issues.

  • In automobile exhaust purification, nano-lanthanum oxide acts as a key additive in three-way catalysts. It enhances the dispersion of noble metals in catalysts, improving their thermal stability and anti-poisoning capabilities. Automotive exhaust catalysts containing nano-lanthanum oxide achieve over 90% conversion rates for carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides, with service lives extended to over 100,000 kilometers, making significant contributions to reducing vehicle emissions.

  • Nano-lanthanum oxide also plays a vital role in ceramic material modification. Adding it to zirconia ceramics reduces sintering temperature, refines grain structure, and significantly improves fracture toughness and bending strength. Such modified ceramics are widely used in mechanical seals and cutting tools, with service lives 2-3 times longer than traditional ceramics. In electronic ceramics, it enhances dielectric properties, serving as a key raw material for high-performance capacitors.

  • In optical glass manufacturing, nano-lanthanum oxide is essential for producing high-refractive-index optical glass. Optical glass containing nano-lanthanum oxide exhibits high light transmittance and low dispersion, making it ideal for high-end camera lenses, telescopes, and microscopes. Lanthanum-based optical glass significantly improves imaging quality, resulting in clearer and sharper images.

  • Furthermore, nano-lanthanum oxide finds important applications in agriculture. As a plant growth regulator, it promotes photosynthesis, enhances nutrient absorption efficiency, and improves crop stress resistance. Experimental data shows that wheat yields increase by 10-15% with appropriate nano-lanthanum oxide application, accompanied by higher protein content in grains.

  • With ongoing research, the application fields of nano-lanthanum oxide continue to expand, becoming a crucial material driving technological upgrading across multiple industries.
